full-time Research specialist
The Crockett Lab invites applications for a full-time Research Specialist position to begin in summer/fall 2025 at Princeton University (start date flexible). The position is for one year with a possibility of renewal. We will begin reviewing applications on 2/14/25 and continue until the position is filled.
The Research Specialist will contribute to research projects investigating transformative experience, identity change, and empathy in the digital age. Day-to-day responsibilities include (1) developing research materials and programming experiments; (2) collecting human subjects data for behavioral and online studies; (3) analyzing behavioral and web scraped data; (4) recruiting and managing undergraduate research assistants; and (5) general lab research support (e.g., IRB management, equipment purchasing, organizing lab meetings and events, maintaining lab websites and digital infrastructures).
The position is an excellent opportunity to gain multidisciplinary research experience. The ideal candidate will be interested in ultimately pursuing graduate study in psychology, cognitive science, computational social science, data science, or a related field.

The following qualifications are essential:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in psychology, cognitive science, data science, computer science, neuroscience, economics, statistics, mathematics, engineering or related field
Excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and experience working on a team
Strong programming, statistical, and/or web development skills (e.g. Python, R, Javascript, etc.)
Prior research experience and knowledge of research principles in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, or related field
Eligibility to work in the U.S. (unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor new visas for international applicants)
The following qualifications are desirable but not required:
Coursework in philosophy
Prior experience with data science methods (e.g., web scraping, data cleaning and manipulation, machine learning, and natural language processing)
Prior experience with web or smartphone application development
